"I was on the same bus with Len and Mason. What a great time he definitely brought a lot of smiles to us. The tour was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone. Our hosts were the best. The depth of knowledge was incredible and the compassion and care was high."

"Together with two friends, with David as our guide,we have explored the WW1 &WW2 battlefields of Europe four times in the last few years. As a retiree, I have found these trips to be the most enriching of a much traveled past. David has a comprehensive knowledge of world history which greatly assists in his detailed explanations of world war events and he has a good understanding of European languages, for touring, food, drink and lodging. Among my most outstanding memories was finding my grandfather's Tynecot grave in Belgium and the follow up David provided, including the history of his war time experience which was unknown to my family. David has a healthy curiosity and enjoys discovering new places with us & is a great travelling companion as well."

"My highlight this time was you locating the Truce Building in Achterveld, Holland, where a truce was signed between Canadian and German soldiers that saved thousands of Dutch people from starving. The plaque inside this building honouring Canadian soldiers who saved the local church by defusing a a 1000 lb bomb brought tears to my eyes."

"Our 15 days exploring the battlefields with you as our guide was super, thanks to your knowledge and enthusiasm. A guide is essential for a great experience visiting the battlefields; you are the best I have experienced."

"I learned so much in a very short time. Our tour included sites and highlights jampacked into days that always ended with an outstanding meal. Dave is an energetic, flexible and responsive tour guide, who took care of my needs to make the tour enjoyable and educational. I hope I can travel again with FOF tours"

Each spring, students who attend a Canadian university are invited to apply to travel as a member of an escorted battlefield student-study tour funded by the Canadian Battlefields Foundation (CBF). This cost of the trip is organized and facilitated by generous donations to the Canadian Battlefields Foundation (CBF) and the Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies, which have been running battlefield tours since 1994. I have been a volunteer battlefield student-study tour guide for CBF for over twenty years.
Applications are available on-line and can be found on CBF's Facebook page. Please contact us for further details.
